Ancient Walrus Bone Sled Runner Necklace
This unique piece of ivory (or possibly bone - it seems a bit porous) is made from part of an old Inuit artifact, most likely a sled runner. Holes were drilled in long strips of bone or ivory and lashed to the sled frame.
I loved all the holes, the dark patina, and the faint chop marks in this so much that I chose to simply lace it onto a durable leather cord to be admired in its native form!
The leather is adjustable in length, using knots at the back.
One of a kind.
